Devlog #2 – Upgrades, people, upgrades

Another week down ! We're keeping a good pace, and it's pretty satisfying to see how the project evolved since the game jam.

News

"Vincart’s joining the battle !"

We are pleased to welcome Vincart (https://vincart.itch.io/) in the team ! He will be working on the level design.

Progress

  • New main menu

  • Settings menu

We’re aiming for a clean and simple menu.

  • Level design

Here’s some more of the first level by Vincart. More is on the way !

  • Lighting

Here’s some lighting tests done by Cyberebral.

  • Early gameplay

We cannot publish videos here, so check out this tweet for some prototype gameplay and exploration. It’s not shown in the video, but there’s also an elevator to transition between big areas.

  • Other stuff

It’s not really something that is interesting to look at, but the code is now modular and maintainable for a bigger scale (refactoring ftw !).

Testing cases have been done and were mostly good (performances tests included).

We settled on naming conventions, and we updated documentation (Game design document, level design document, schedules, backlogs...).

What’s next

We’re planning to upgrade to the newest input system.

A true look for the UI is on the way.

The environment design for the demo should start soon, as the level design will have a few iterations this week. If everything goes well, we should be able to release a demo by the end of the week.

See you next week or on Twitter !

Exkaiser, Cyberebral and Vincart
